Thomas Berns of Shinmura Judo (Regina) delivered an exceptional performance at the 2026 Canadian Open Championships (#OpenNationals), held May 14–17 at the Calgary Olympic Oval in Calgary, Alberta, earning the title of Canadian National Champion.
Competing in the U16 +73kg division, Berns demonstrated outstanding skill, composure, and competitive excellence, going undefeated (4–0) to secure the gold medal. Notably, he remains undefeated in the U16 division for the entire 2026 season, highlighting his consistency and dominance at the national level.
